What you knead

This is my journey through Baking and Pastry School. I hope you enjoy the stories, the photos and just randomness about me in the kitchen. --adam

Thank you Mary Poppins..

Last night I went to the theater and saw Mary Poppins,  It was to give my stomach a little rest, however my liver is still mad at me.  Before the show we went to the Corner Office Restaurant + Martini Bar and drank over-priced fancy drinks, average appetizers and felt (at least in my mind) really trendy cool downtown among the beautiful young people of Denver.  For the nightcap it was a completely different establishment, The Cheeky Monk. A place for people to really appreciate a pint and conversation.  My kind of place.

As for Mary Poppins, During the performance, some of those timeless songs and lyrics really struck me and I believe they are words to live by, for the next ten weeks, and for the rest of my life.  Here are a few lines that just got me a thinking:

Anything can happen if you let it…

If you reach for the starts all you get are the stars.  If you reach for the heavens, you get the stars thrown in…

Though I spends me time, in the ashes and soot. In this ‘ole wide world, there’s no happier bloke…
and of course, my favorite,  Just a spoonful of sugar….

Thank you Mary Poppins.  You inspired me more than I thought.  I can’t wait to bring that to the kitchen Monday morning.
