Holiday Cookies.
As most of you know, I am really not a fan of baking cookies. I don’t have anything against doing it, just not something I want to do every day. Having said that, I have a holiday party, and thought I should bring something nice. I wasn’t sure what to make and came across this recipe for Mexican Wedding Cookies. Simple, easy and yet so delicate they just dissolve in your mouth. enjoy.
Friday fun.
This morning I was at school for a fun seminar. It was a demonstration on making plate presentations with fruits and vegetables. It was a lot of fun, and I am sure as time allows, I will be able to do more of these. We learned how to do flowers out of radishes, tomatoes, oranges and apples. Made swans, more flowers and a lot of cool abstract little things that hopefully will make dinner...
Layers and layers of yum.
Just a quick update and some photos. It’s been a busy week, so just ohhh and ahhhh at the photos… Below are a few of the cakes I made in class. There are many layers in this cake of well, lots of goodies. Hopefully when the holiday break hits, I can write more.

Then we started to make chocolate eclairs, profiteroles and mini croquembouch. and yes it...

A new term begins today, so I should probably sit back and reflect on the past ten weeks. What can I say? I love it. I love it more than I ever expected. Learning about the science behind baking and understanding why things happen the way they do just make the kitchen that much more enjoyable. So what have I loved the most? I am not sure there is one specific, but here are a few...
Weekends in the kitchen..
I have been baking a lot for the past ten weeks, so today was a little bit of a break. I love to make simple food and today was no different. It was a typical December in Indiana, snowy, windy, cold and dreary. Perfect day for a stew. I decided to make a Chicken Stew with Lemon and Rosemary complimented with a Parmesan Thyme Crisp. In addition to this looking yummy (and tasting pretty good...
Almost there.
Tomorrow is the last day of the term and what a great ten weeks. Once I see my first term grades, I will be sure to have a better reflection blog. For now, just some fun bread pictures. The first is an Irish Soda Bread that I made in class. It was very interesting to make, but I liked it. Liked it enough to make it again here soon. The other is Ciabatta. I had some free time the other...
